Welcome to the InfoPower Team
Dear
Welcome to the first Information Power newsletter for 2007! We are making a few changes this year and improving communication with our valued clients is a key focus. As well as this newsletter which will come monthly to all subscribed people, we are launching a seriesof monthly seminars on topical areas. Held on the last Wednesday of each month, these sessions will explore relevant IT topics, aiming to educate and inform with a minimum of techno babble. I would recommend attending our first session on March 28th at 10:30am which dives into Microsoft Vista and Office 2007. Register to attend a session on our site.
During 2007 our Sales Team of Robert Incledon and David Morrison will be looking to get to know you better with more regular direct communication. Our focus is to get to know your business better and help you achieve your strategic goals through smart use of technology. We are your resource and welcome the opportunity to discuss ideas and concepts with you.
Being our first newsletter for a couple of years, we welcome any feedback you might have – let us know how it can be improved. All feedback to sadie@infopower.co.nz
What's New at InfoPower

This year Information Power invites you to take part in our FREE seminar series! Held on the last Wednesday morning of the month these informative sessions will be a chance for you to learn more about your computer and what it is capable of.
We welcome everyone to attend, and as extra incentive we will be giving away an iPod Shuffle to one lucky person at each session.
The other sessions will cover a range of subjects from Managing Security to VOIP. For more information and registration details check out the site.

From Shane Wood
One of the core values of Infopower is the importance of people, both staff and clients.
Late last year, we kicked off a program focused on improving the well being of our team by encouraging activity and healthy lifestyles. Our partner in this adventure is Andrew Smith Fitness.
We started with a check-up for all staff with individual assessments of fitness including measurement of Blood Pressure, BMI and cholesterol.
Since December, we have been taken through a range of physical activities each fortnight including rock climbing, kayaking, a treasure hunt (power walking), climbing to the top of Mount Victoria, Crocodile Bike Races, and an outdoor sports afternoon. All activities have been targeted at challenging those attending, whilst keeping a strong focus on teamwork and fun. The next event continues in the same theme: windsurfing.
We think the concept is so good, we would like to encourage other businesses to follow our lead. To this end, we are offering an extra place on our fortnightly adventure to any client who is interest. It is first in first served, so if you are keen for a challenge, give Sadie or Sri a call soon.
From the Helpdesk

In late 2006 we implemented a new remote support tool that now allows us to take remote control of any internet connected computer (connected to broadband internet). If you have a weird error or your PC is not behaving, just call us on 04 978 2040 and we can guide you through over the phone – just sit back, relax and watch us fix your computer. The technology is secure and is instance based meaning we can only connect each time you ask us to.
We are also in the process of implementing proactive monitoring tools on all client servers. This enables us to get alerts sent to us 24/7 – we now often know of issues before you do, which increases our ability to respond before issues impact your business.
In future issues we will be looking at Nimbus Accounting and Business management software and Content Management using the MoST system. |
Staff Profile
Each month we will profile a staff member so that you can get ‘beyond the techo’ and learn a little bit more about the people who make Information Power tick. This month meet the irrepressible David Morrison!

David Morrison
Name: David Morrison, age 34, born in Scotland but I sound like a kiwi!
Role at IPL: I am the Technical Services Manager/Sales Specialist – my role is to manage the engineering services and support provided by Information Power.
Time at IPL: I have been here for 6 months. My current focus is to improve internal systems and to grow our client base in network management services.
Some personal stuff!
I'm married with a 2 1/2 year old daughter and number 2 is due in mid 2007. My Career choices have been varied, ranging from Hospitality to the Army to Industry Training Sector and now IT.
About technology: I love it! Especially the ability to help our clients realise more about how they can use the technology they have invested in. I have a keen interest in mobility and helping people work from where ever they need to, be it home, on the move, a local café or a hotel in Europe. I live the mobility story – I commute on the train each morning and often have my emails cleared and my day planned before I get into Wellington station! I am even writing this profile information from Christchurch airport while waiting for my plane home…call me direct on 04 978 2052 if you too want to be free from the desk!
